The Octagon Global Recruiting site is now active.  Here is something interesting to note while you plunge through the Dharma recruiting process, during the registration process the date of birth is already set at July 17, 1978.  What could it mean? Is it just a fluke?

I don’t think it’s a fluke. I just checked wikipedia, but I didn’t find any corresponding dates. I searched for a while on google, but couldn’t find anything that corresponded

  • Tapdawg

I was thinking maybe it’s the fact that the video was made 30 years ago from Pierre Chang and that date could be the date the video was made?

Either that or the programmer forgot to take his date out when he tested it… haha

…and the defualt gender is set to Female ?

    “Welcome to Dharma Wants You.
Dharma Wants You is an online experience connected to the ABC TV show LOST.

The story follows a fictitious scientific community from LOST, The Dharma Initiative, as it attempts to recruit and assess volunteers for a secret research project.

By completing an ‘Eligibility Test’ and registering on dharmawantsyou.com audience members enroll as volunteer recruits for the Dharma Initiative.

Each week audience members will have the opportunity to complete a test that assesses their abilities in a particular skill.”

    FICTITIOUS SCIENTIFIC COMMUNITY? UUUGHGHHH!

The date of The Incident perhaps?

As Pierre pleaded in the new video, this recent recruiting push could be an effort to bring together what was left of the original Initiative. According to Ben’s information, Charlotte was born July 2, 1979. If she was infact born on the island and escaped the purge, things like the date could be subtle clues to weed her (and possibly Dan & Miles) out.

Disneyland celebrates it birthday on July 17th. In 1978, the park turned 23 years old!
Completely irrelevant, I know, but a fun coincidence.

Whats funny, is that while filling out the form, when it came to the birthdate, i found it funny that the Month, Day, and Year were all 1 less than my actual birthdate. August 18, 1979…I know now that it means nothing, but while filling it out, I thought it was weird and that the site was messing with me…Just saying i noticed the date too, and I was like I wonder if its the same for all…now i know it is, so not freaked out, but I will say, it has to be for a reason…as posted earlier Disney bday, as they own ABC???? The purge date bc its Mickey Mouses’ bday?? lol who knows I am excited though!!!

Finally worked for me, I refreshed the registration form a million times. Then the voice comes back and thanks you for your efforts. You have to wait a little more after that.

  • oookatrina

I watched ABC’s news archive for July 17, 1978, and didn’t see anything unusual.

  • Tivnuts

Everything worked fine for me, the voices are creepy too…..

  • Jenkins

    Charlotte’s Birthday?

  • Who says it is 1978? It could be any other century like around black rock times, or even earlier!

  • LO

I don’t know if this means anything, but I found something about a Gail Trait from Buffalo, NY that occured on July 17, 1978 during a date search using yahoo!

According to the Houston Chronicle News Services…
“Trait, 26, stabbed her four children to death and then told police she was trying to save her soul. Relatives said she spoke of a voodoo curse. Trait served 10 years in prison before an appeals court overturned her conviction and ruled her insane. She spent another 10 years in a psychiatric hospital.”

This is definintely dark and a reach.
