ABC-logo.jpgNew multi-network rating data that seems to be season averages shows a huge lift for Lost in DVR viewers.  Lost had the third largest total DVR contribution beating out shows like House, Grey’s Anatomy, and CSI.

Of the total views a week after air date (around 17.7 Million counting DVRs), 18% of the audience tivo’d the show. This works out to an average of around 3 million new viewers.  That’s not too shabby.

I know this may be a dumb question, but do they look at all the DVR & Tivo boxes? Or is this like the Neilson’s where only a certain few are looked at and then they guesstimate the results?

I always DVR Lost, regardless if I watch it at the time it’s aired. I assume a lot of us Lost fans do so we can re-watch & pause to check things out. Can they tell how many times a DVR’d show is watched, rewound,or paused. I am embarrassed to say how often I do it.

Even better news: According to imdb tv-news page, Lost was the highest rated scripted show on tv tied for 4th place!

    Amazing, eh?

  • These numbers are very interesting. Where did you get the data? The Nielson site shows slightly different numbers for the total viewers last week: http://www.nielsenmedia.com/nc/portal/site/Public/menuitem.43afce2fac27e890311ba0a347a062a0/?show=%2FFilters%2FPublic%2Ftop_tv_ratings%2Fbroadcast_tv&selOneIndex=0&vgnextoid=9e4df9669fa14010VgnVCM100000880a260aRCRD

    Either way, viva la Tivo!

All very good news for the show. Of course, right now the show is up against very little scripted competition due to the strike, but it’s still great that it is dominating even a weakened field.

Ben: it’s an average for the entire season I believe.
