Who could possible be the person that Ben been implied in his cliffhanger message last Thursday? Could it be an Other? One of the newcomers? Someone we haven’t seen? Or maybe even a castaway. There are several possibilities for the person who can call themselves Ben’s mole (or do they even know?). Take a look at each possible character, vote on it, and tell us what you think!
Note: Unfortunately, the Poll is limited to 7 choices. If your idea of who the mole is does not appear on the poll, please let your voice be heard in the comments (your theories will be added)!
Just because they are out of sight, does not mean they are out of mind!
Picture this, at the end of season 2, Michael is triumphantly driving away from the island at the compass bearing 325. He looks down and sees a tape recorder labeled “Play Me”. While looking suspiciously towards the direction of the dock, he presses play. Ben’s voice comes on “Well done, Michael, there is one more thing you need to do before you can be rescued.”
Ben has known about the people coming to the island well before the end of season 2, and sets Michael up to be his mole. He also knows that he can persuade Michael to do anything to get off the island (I mean, he killed for him), so manipulating Michael into his puppet is a simple task. Since the people on the boat have studied the manifest completely, Michael has no other choice but to tell them the truth of who he is (which would make them not surprised at all to see other survivors on the island). Thinking this survivor knows nothing of Ben, they allow him some freedom. Which is just enough for Michael to sneak around, nab their personal files, and radio them back to Ben (the Looking Glass is blocking all signals, but Ben is able to control the flow of information through it.)
If Walt is the mole, he has no idea that he is giving Ben the information. Ben has figured out how to access Walt’s abilities via the testing in Room 23. Once Michael and Walt are picked up by “Not Penny’s Boat,” Ben uses Walt to obtain the information through some other Dharma testing facility (or maybe Jacob).
In order to determine which of the boaties could be the spy, we will take a look at their history and something I like to call the Other Factor. The Other Factor determines if they have the right stuff that would have the right personality that would characterize them as an other (i.e. they would be on Jacob’s List.)
Read DocArzt’s Theory on how Charlotte is the mole. Here is gist, Charlotte is an off island operative (i.e. discovering the teleported polar bear) and has worked her way into Abaddon’s team. She is a scientist, seems like a good person, and has an ominous personality.
Other Factor: High
Miles is a psychic and has a unknown background, but he is very secretive and knows how to get what he wants. Could his psychic abilities come from the island, maybe a “gift” from Jacob?
Other Factor: Moderate
Daniel is either a very good actor or is exactly what he appears to be. His confusion and happy go lucky attitude make him appear to not be in Ben’s service, but if it is all an act that would make him the perfect other.
Other Factor: Moderate
He is a drunk, lost his job with Oceanic Air, and runs a small travel agency. Frank would probably not appear on Jacob’s list, it is unlikely he is Ben’s mole.
Other Factor: Low
These others have not appeared recently, could they be working behind the scenes?
The last time we saw Richard, Ben had told him to go and take the rest of the others to the “temple.” Unless the others have some kind of time machine that would allow Richard more time to obtain the information from the freighter, it is doubtful that he would get the information to Ben in time (the time between the “Through the Looking Glass” and “Confirmed Dead” is about 1.5 days)
Fish food, anyone?
Did she really die? Mikhail shot her, but could the island of healed her? This could allow Ben (since the rest of the others think she is dead) to recruit her for a secret mission to infiltrate the freighter. But keep in mind that the people from “Not Penny’s Boat” have the flight manifest, and would dtermine that Bea was a native from the island.
Yet to See
There is a good chance of the mole being someone we have never seen before.
George is named after a physicist named Hermann Minkowski (created the idea of space-time.) But we really don’t know much about him, other than he seems to be the “Not Penny’s Boat” go to guy.
Regina seems like the last in command on “Not Penny’s Boat.” Miles orders her around, and tells her to get Minkowski. Since she did not get him, Miles said nothing about the situation. This would allow her to take the retrieve information under a low profile.
